Valentine's Day At Home

Just like everything else, Valentine’s Day is going to look a bit different than a normal year.  Your favorite restaurant may not be open, or you have to bear the cold and sit under a heater all bundled up to enjoy it, which then makes your food cold in under five minutes.  But do not worry!  We have a solution for you.  This year celebrate Valentine’s Day at home with your special someone, even if the kids are there.

Order delivery or take-out.  This is a great way to still have your food from your favorite restaurant but enjoy it in the comfort of your own home and not out in the cold.  Many places have Valentine’s Day specials like heart-shaped pizzas or discounts when you purchase two entrees.  It’s also a great way to support your local businesses with the many COVID restrictions.

Hire a babysitter.  Even if you are still home, you can hire a babysitter to watch the kids in a designated area of the house so you may enjoy an evening of relaxing.  For instance, Kelly comes over to watch the kids and they are to stay in the basement or the playroom for a couple of hours while you and your loved one watch your favorite rom-com in the family room.

Do a Valentine’s Day scavenger hunt for the whole family.  When I was younger, our parents would create a Valentine’s Day scavenger hunt for us all.  They would hide our favorite candies, flowers, and chocolates around the house for us.  This made it extremely fun and gave us a little exercise running around the house.

Cook dinner.  Have you seen the popular feta cheese and tomato pasta on TikTok one too many times? Let me just save the trouble of deciding between ordering out or giving it a shot yourself…it’s AMAZING! This is the perfect time to make your own pasta on your special night in.  It gives you bonding time with your partner or family and helps you save money!  Plus, you can Lady and the Tramp style your food in peace.

Whatever you decide to do this Valentine’s Day, make it special.  Let your family know they are loved and appreciated every day, but especially on Valentine’s Day.
