Big Game Safety

SUPERBOWL LIV SAFETY

The day we have all been waiting for is almost here, the Big Game!  While we all want to celebrate with our friends and family to root on our favorite team in the game, it’s important to be responsible.  If you’re rooting for the NFC or the AFC, we’re all in the same boat, we want a great game! Here are 5 great tips to celebrate responsibly, while enjoying the game.

  1. Don’t hang out in large groups.

It’s a great day for football and a great day for friends.  Unfortunately, COVID is still a large risk to many. Try celebrating on a video conference or with just your family if you’re stuck in the cold during this polar vortex.  If you’re lucky enough to live in warmer weather, you can have driveway or backyard parties with your neighbors.

  1. Drive responsibly.

Remember to drive responsibly if you have been drinking.  Call a sober friend, a taxi, or a driving service to come drive you. No one has ever woken up the next day regretting that $15 Uber from the night before.

  1. Serve plenty of food.

For some people, myself included, the food is more important than the Big Game. Even with a close scoring game and big plays, it doesn’t compare to the dips, wings, and other amazing food we have. You may be thinking, how is having enough food a safety tip? Well, we all have that uncle who gets a little hangry if they haven’t eaten enough. If you need some ideas for recipes to keep Uncle Craig happy, check out our blog on that here!

  1. Clear walkways and stairs.

Is there a worse way to start of Sunday with a trip to the ER? If you live in a snowy state, clear the walkways of snow and ice and lay down salt to reduce slipping and falling.  In addition, clear them of children’s toys or bikes.  Keeping the stairs clear of objects that could become tripping hazards is also a great idea.

  1. Wear your seatbelt!

You should always be wearing your seatbelt, no matter if it’s the day of the Big Game or not.  Even if you are being safe in the car, others may not be.  Wear your seatbelt!
